mirage farm
2024 — Competition
Primorsky Krai, Russia
Located far from established logistics, the future resort relies in part on a local farm as a self-sustaining system. It supplies fresh greens and vegetables while also becoming a point of attraction.
Alongside its productive role, the building incorporates public functions: a restaurant featuring locally grown ingredients and a visitor center offering guided tours of the farm.
The architecture is based on a simple, rational volume articulated by stepped, cascading shifts. A familiar agricultural typology transforms into a “mirage” — its geometry becomes difficult to read, as if the building drifts and dissolves within the estuary landscape.
One of the farm’s blocks houses a tasting hall, where guests can experience dishes made from herbs and vegetables grown on site. The plants are immediately present — just beyond the glass, within arm’s reach.
Visitors also have access to an inner courtyard with local flora — a calm, almost sensory-reset space — as well as guided tours through the production areas, explaining cultivation techniques adapted to the unique local climate.
