SOLOMBALA SHIPYARD
2026 — Concept
Solombala, Arkhangelsk, Russia
The Shipyard complex in Solombala, Arkhangelsk, is conceived as a production-and-public super-building that reactivates Moseev Island and anchors a new craft cluster around wooden shipbuilding. The program is structured as a clear gradient: technical workshops and logistics at the core transition into community, education, and exhibition-like spaces, allowing visitors to experience the making process without disrupting it.
Circulation is designed with separated flows for staff and guests, yet maintains visual presence through carefully framed viewpoints. Timber is used as a contemporary structural strategy—with CLT enabling energy-efficient construction and a platform for prefabricated components, from pavilion systems to façade and structural elements. A hotel tower landmark completes the ensemble, forming a new focal point on the Northern Dvina skyline.
